Office removals in London

A commercial move is a logistics job with furniture in it. What decides whether it goes well is the coding done beforehand and the building window agreed with two managing agents.

Three phases

Described by what has to be true at each point rather than by a calendar — because the timing is set by your lease dates and your building, not by us.

01

Before

A walk round both sites with whoever owns the decision. We produce a floor-plan coding scheme — every desk, cabinet and crate gets a destination position, and the labels are printed before anything is packed. Building access is agreed with both managing agents, including out-of-hours admission, lift booking and dock windows.

02

The window

The move itself runs inside the agreed building window, normally out of hours. Crates travel on trolleys in coded batches, IT is handled separately and last, and the new site is set out to the plan rather than stacked in a corridor for someone to sort out on Monday.

03

After

Crates are collected once you have unpacked, the old site is left clear of our materials, and anything that has to go into storage goes in inventoried rather than shoved in a van. Snags get dealt with by the people who did the move.

Three kinds of thing in an office

IT and comms

Screens, docks, hubs and peripherals boxed by desk position rather than by type, so a desk arrives as a desk rather than as a hunt through five cartons. Servers and racks move only in coordination with whoever maintains them — we lift, they power down and bring back up.

Furniture and storage walls

Desks dismantled where they need to be and rebuilt at the new position. Storage walls, pedestals and lockers move with contents secured. Anything glass-fronted is cased rather than blanket-wrapped.

Records and archives

Boxed, sealed and logged, with a chain of custody you can point at if anyone asks. Where records are going into storage rather than to the new office, they go into containerised storage under inventory — not a pile in a unit.

Business storage and document storage are handled through our own containerised storage rather than by sending you to a self-storage park. Everything is listed on the way in, which is the whole point when it is records rather than furniture.

Office removals — common questions

Can you move us out of hours?

That is how most London office moves run — evenings and weekends, inside a window agreed with the building. It is also usually the only time a loading dock and service lift are available to you.

Will we lose a trading day?

The point of the phasing is that you do not. The coding and the plan are finished before the window opens, and the new site is set out to that plan rather than left as boxes. What you do lose is an evening or a weekend.

Do you handle IT?

We move it; we do not decommission or recommission it. Servers and racks are lifted in coordination with your IT provider, who powers down and brings back up. Trying to do both ourselves would be the wrong kind of confidence.

What about crates?

Supplied, delivered in advance so your team can pack their own desks, and collected once you have unpacked. They are coded to the floor plan, which is the part that makes the far end quick.

Can you store what will not fit in the new office?

Yes — containerised and inventoried, which matters far more for business records and spare furniture than it does for a household. Everything is listed on the way in so you can find one item later without opening five containers.

Do you cover small offices as well as large ones?

A studio floor with a handful of desks is a perfectly normal job and gets the same coding discipline. Small office moves fail for exactly the same reasons large ones do, just faster.

Moving the business?

Send both addresses and a rough headcount. We will arrange a walk round of each site and come back with a written plan.
